Boeing, the world leader in aerospace manufacturing for both commercial and military applications, has 10,800 suppliers around the world. On April 6, nine were chosen as 2008 Suppliers of the Year for various categories. DigiPen Institute of Technology was chosen as the winner in the Technology category.
According to the official news release, “merging the best of simulation technology from the software development, aerospace and defense industries, DigiPen’s innovation has provided Boeing with the capacity to prototype new ideas and technologies, to evaluate their value and to mitigate risks before fully investing in them.”
“These suppliers demonstrated outstanding productivity and performance in the past year and exemplify the characteristics that we expect,” said Steve Schaffer, Boeing enterprise leader of Supplier Management and vice president and general manager of Supplier Management for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
